File Name and Tag Coordinator Advanced Options

Artist / Title format: Specify here how you wish the Artist/Title to appear in the resulting file name when Simulating. There are four options available

Example

Let's take a file such as this:

Savage_Garden_-_CArRY_on_Dancing.mp3

Selecting ALL UPPERCASE in Artist format and Capitalise Each Word in Title format, and Remove underscores in both sets of options, the resulting file name will be:

SAVAGE GARDEN - Carry On Dancing.mp3

Change special words: Specify here any words you wish to change to another word when Simulating. This is useful in cases where an abbreviation has been used that does not favour your taste and you wish to change the abbreviation or use the full word instead. Or conversely, you may wish to abbreviate certain words that appear frequently in your MP3s' file names. Examples include "featuring" often abbreviated as "feat." and "versus" often abbreviated as "vs."

Notes

Special words format: Specify here any words you wish to appear in a particular format when Simulating. This is useful for applying book title capitalisation to your MP3's. For example, the words 'and', 'of', 'to', 'the' usually appear all lowercase (unless it's the first word of course). Words that you might want always to appear UPPERCASE may include such words as 'DJ', 'USA', 'ABBA', etc.

To add a word to a list, type the word in the text box above the list and press the Add button. To remove a word, select the word in the list and press the Remove button.

'The' at end of Artist Name: Check this box to put the word 'The' found at the start of any Artist Name at the end (after a comma) when Simulating. For example, "The Beatles" would become "Beatles, The".

Remove double spaces: Check this box to change occurrences of double spaces to a single space when Simulating. This will reduce up to four adjacent spaces to a single space.

Rigorous Track Number detection: Check this box to attempt to detect Track Numbers in file names more rigourously. This may cause incorrect detections in some circumstances and should be turned off in these cases.

Action colours: Set the colours here that you wish the Simulate Results to be displayed in depending on how they are to be dealt with. There are four possible actions for each Simulate Result:

Track Number limit: Specify here the highest Track Number to look for when deriving the Track Number from the file name. This is so that numbers used as part of Artist or Title Names are not mistaken for Track Numbers. For example, "Prince - 1999.mp3" or "Bryan Adams - Summer of '69.mp3" or anything by "Blink 182" - these would not have the numbers within them mistaken for Track Numbers is Track Number limit is set to say, 30.
